Otago Polytechnic is my partner in success.

I take pride in saying I am an Otago Polytechnic CAP Nurse who has been prepared and empowered to deliver an efficient nursing care to my clients.  As part of my studies I partook in clinical placements which provided relevant experience, and also allowed me to transition well into the workplace.  The success of this programme is manifested by the number of overseas nurses successfully registered in the Nursing Council of New Zealand.

Teaching sessions and skills assessment were done in a dynamic manner and the pacing was consistent to the needs of the nurse.  The exchange of cultural knowledge was highly encouraged in the class and in return lecturers gave total, yet concise teachings that trained me to display cultural sensitivity and a positive attitude towards the tangata whenua.

Now I am working as a Staff Nurse in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit at the Auckland City Hospital, where my work and love for neonates is highlighted by the meaning of what I have learned during my CAP days.

Thanks Otago Polytechnic for making me a “nurse on the go!”
