Since 2008 I have been the Student Administrator for Fashion working part-time, recently I have had a dual role, as a Teaching Research Assistant — working with Year 3 Fashion students.
An Otago Polytechnic graduate from the school of Fashion in 2000, I worked in industry from Invercargill to Auckland before venturing out on my own.
In 2003 I was accepted into the Dunedin Fashion Incubator as a resident designer, establishing my label ‘Philippa Beaton’. I survived six successful seasons in business, with the highlights including showing at Air New Zealand Fashion Week in 2004 and at the iD Dunedin Fashion Show three times.
After closing my business in 2006 to concentrate on my little children, I continued working in industry as a contract knitwear designer and assisting with production for local fashion companies.
