After graduating as a fashion designer in the seventies at the height of the British fashion revolution, just missing the swinging sixties!
I emerged myself in the Brit garment industry for many years, designing for main stream young contemporary fashion retail. Working my way through Canada and America as a designer, my family and I settled in Auckland NZ in 1980.
Having designed for companies such as Thornton Hall, Silk degrees and Peppertree, along with developing my own design business, the opportunity to do some part time teaching led to the realisation that teaching was a profession that I enjoyed and wanted to be the focus of my working future, leading to my present position at Otego polytechnic.
I believe that fashion is as much an art form as a commodity. Fashion is capable of changing our mood with its presence and its effects are completely subliminal.
