Welcome to the Master of Design Enterprise

The MDE Programme:

  • is ideally suited for design graduates, design professionals and people in industry working within design-related fields
  • understands that design is a strategic tool that is as much about ways of thinking as about ways of production
  • has an emphasis on realising design opportunities in commercial and not-for-profit settings
  • examines industry best practice
  • engages with tools and frameworks used across the inter-related fields of design, enterprise and operations
  • includes modules on how to identify opportunities for realising design-led innovation, and also on how to assess the design capability of an organisation or business

Enjoy State of the Art Facilities

As well as computer labs, hard media studios, laser cutting, and exhibition spaces the School of Design at Otago Polytechnic has set up Australasia's leading rapid prototyping facility. The Product Development Centre facility includes a 5 Axis Mill, 3 Axis Mill, CNC Milling, Waterjet cutting and 3D Printer.

Also, all students have access to both the Polytechnic's extensive design library collection as well as all texts and journals held by the University of Otago.
