Otago Polytechnic's Central Otago campuses offer a range of qualifications in locally-relevant subjects such as horticulture, viticulture, business, hospitality, adventure and sustainable practice.

Our philosophy is to provide hands-on experience and real life knowledge from highly qualified and experienced industry professionals in the way that best suits the student’s lifestyle.

Hospitality students

Our programmes support and reflect the local industry infrastructure. Specialist areas include:

  • Sports turf management where students work on some of New Zealand’s most famous golf courses
  • New Zealand’s only full-time stonemasonry programme where local schist and old stone buildings provide perfect subject matter
  • Unique mountain-based snow sports and adventure programmes taught from Wanaka and Queenstown ski areas.
  • Cooking programmes that take advantage of Queenstown’s award-winning chefs and restaurants.
  • Viticulture courses in the heart of one of the world's greatest Pinot Noir regions.
  • Fruit production courses within spitting distance of a blossoming cherry growing region.

Community Learning Centres (CLC)

We have Community Learning Centres in Cromwell and Queenstown.

Here you can study computing and business Administration and gain a nationally recognised qualification, by studying our flexible programmes that allow you to fit your learning around your lifestyle.

CLC programmes/courses allow you to study at your own pace using the Centre’s computing suite or via an online study option.

We also offer one-on-one help with your laptop and low cost introductory courses in Trademe, Skype, Photo Management, MYOB - plus many more.

If you need to improve your English, then why not study online for minimal cost – English for Beginners, Hospitality and Business are now available. 

We also give careers advice and can help if you have plenty of life and work experience but not the qualification. Call one of our Centres today.
