Rachel Allan is a technical teacher in the Photography and Electronic Arts section.
She was awarded her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Dunedin School of Art at Otago Polytechnic in 2010, and is now a current Master of Fine Arts candidate (Dunedin School of Art.) Rachel's practice regularly uses traditional chemical photographic techniques and their relationship to memory and personal enquiry. Similarly, she questions our relationship to photographs both chemical and digital, considering their paradoxical messages.
"Photographs are symbols of reality. They suspend a moment in time and capture our stories. They furnish a tentative link to the past and are a tangible record of our existence."
