Pam McKinlay

Pam McKinlay is a Research and Admin assistant in the Dunedin School of Art.

She currently works as an editorial assistant on Junctures: the Journal for Thematic Dialogue, and the journal SCOPE: Contemporary Research Topics in Art and Design, maintains the School of Art websites and is adminsitrator for the DSA Art Collection. Pam has previously worked in photographic archives, museums and art gallery collection management and as a registrar. She co-developed a Taonga Maori Thesaurus for classification of Taonga Maori Collections (originally in Te Reo) which following national hui at Te Papa Tongarewa and with the blessing of Te Roopu Kaiawhi has been gifted to and is use in museums around the world for the kaitiakitanga of taonga Maori.

She has an applied sciences and arts background and graduated with a Dip H.Sc in Clothing Design and Textile Science and BA in Art History from the University of Otago.

In her spare time she researches issues around the use of the digital image including copyright, privacy and the public domain. In 2010 she received a grant to complete research with Su Ballard. The resulting project, Art at Risk,  was funded by AKO Aotearoa - National Centre for Tertiary Teaching Excellence.

Pam works on conservation projects in the greater Dunedin area and particularly at Taieri Mouth. She blogs for the NEV Enviro-Schools Garden on compost. Pam also makes things.
