Michael Greaves is the Studio Coordinator for painting and teaches in the undergraduate program. There is a strong focus on the materiality of the medium in the painting studio and the concerns that painting has with its relevance in the 21st century.
His own work and research is driven by the seemingly contradictory world of the maker and the object, isolation and irrelevance, common memories and collective histories, failed utopias and relationships between seemingly unco-operative imagery.
Michael holds a BA in Art History and Theory, BFA in Painting and a Post Graduate Degree in teaching.
Research Expertise: Painting. Contemporary painting practice and theory. Drawing.
