Brian Wood is the Head of The Valuation Department at Webb’s, Art Auction House.

Brian's work varies from researching market valuations and sourcing stock for sale, to writing catalogue descriptions,  looking after the gallery during viewing times and also getting up on the rostrum and being an auctioneer. A highlight for him is the variety of his week where he gets to view art objects as diverse as an original oil painting by Rene Magritte to ceramics from the Ming dynasty.

Brian is still involved in his own art ceramics practice and aims to exhibit at least once a year. He also makes contemporary jewellery, in collaboration with his partner, which are cast as multiples by an Auckland foundry.
