
This programme aims to educate students to the highest professional standards in nursing and prepare them to be part of a healthcare team. Your programme will include 50 percent theory and 50 percent clinical work with opportunities to practise in a variety of settings. On successful completion of this degree you will be put forward for registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand. This programme is also available for study in Timaru.
NCEA Level 3 with 42 or more credits over four
subjects. This must include:
14 or more credits in Biology OR
14 or more credits in Chemistry
14 or more credits in English or an English-rich subject from an approved list. Applicants must have attained a minimum of 8 credits in Level 2 English (4 reading and 4 writing)
Applicants aged 20 years or over must have completed the equivalent to NCEA Level 3 in biology and/or chemistry within the last five years.
The Degree programme is academically demanding. Successful applicants should have developed skills in
studying, locating and using relevant resources and understanding and applying theory and concepts.
Students must be competent in comprehension of
written and oral language expression. Applicants will be asked to sit an English language and a Maths assessment in the first week of the course.

Selection criteria reflects the Nursing Council of New Zealand requirements into a Bachelor of Nursing
programme. Applicants must declare any criminal
conviction, physical limitations or health concerns that may impact on their ability to complete the Bachelor of Nursing and gain registration as a nurse in New
Zealand. Course counselling is available to determine suitability.

English language skills equivalent to an IELTS overall band score (academic) of 7.0 (with no individual score less than 7.0)
