Arboriculture is a specialised field involving pruning, felling, transplanting and maintaining the health of trees. Arborists, sometimes known as tree surgeons, are people who care for and maintain trees and shrubs.

This programme will teach you a wide range of practical arboriculture skills at a tradesperson level. It includes both practical and theoretical instruction necessary in this dynamic, growing industry.

Entry requirements

Entry to this programme is open. Applicants should be aware of the physical and mental ability required for tree climbing and the health and safety issues involved in the programme.

International entry requirements

English language skills equivalent to an overall band score (academic) of 6.0 IELTS, (writing score no less than 6.0 and all other bands no less than 5.0).

Further study options

Arboriculture may also be studied at Diploma level in New Zealand.
