Certificate in High Performance (Specialty) (Level 5)

This is a specialty course that utilises the expertise within the Institute and also the expertise within various sporting organisations. Presently we have four academies operating:

  • Badminton (in conjunction with Badminton Otago)
  • Basketball (in conjunction with Basketball Otago)
  • Rowing (in conjunction with University of Otago Rowing Club)
  • Rugby

Specialised coaching within each sport comes from recognised experts from the various sporting bodies.

In addition to specialised coaching, Physical Conditioning, Nutrition and Sport Psychology are key components of the course.

Entry requirements

Academic entry is open, however students need to have demonstrated achievement at their chosen sport.

International students: Minimum entry criteria are: Overall band score (Academic) of 5.5 IELTS, (writing score no less than 6.0 and all other bands no less than 5.0) English language requirements for students of non-English speaking backgrounds IELTS 5.5 with no bands less than 5.0.
