Design Metrics

  • Defines an economical approach to design projects and business models.

First Evolver Partnership:

The EV1 project is an Evolver partnership with a local entrepreneur to develop a new appliance for the global commercial cleaning industry.

The Evolver ‘deliverable’ is to be a fully functional prototype of the new appliance that can be used by the client to demonstrate the system, and the value of the appliance, for the purpose of gaining investment, licence or trade sale of the innovation.

The project targets productivity, efficiency, and ease of use, and provides solutions to cross-contamination issues within the health sector.

This 18 month project through Evolver and the PDC was backed by a $300K investment by OID/Evolver. It will complete in July 2010.

Impact on Industry:

Evolver bridges the funding gap that exists at the very start of the innovation cycle. Evolver invests at a stage when very few others will, because until a concept is at least proven through prototyping, to allow further evaluation, the risk is too great.

Impact on improving projects:

Selection for Evolver support is dependent on:

  • Being a product innovation opportunity, not service.
  • Strong and compelling value proposition & USP potential
  • Ability to create and develop strong IP and with FTO
  • Project requirements align with Evolver / PDC capabilities in product design, R&D and prototyping

Ongoing Business in Product Innovation:

Evolver will engage in further new product developments with this client, using peripheral intellectual property that was developed during the EV1 project.
