Metros Group

The Metro Group comprises New Zealand’s six major metropolitan Institutes of Technology based in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. Educating more than 111,000 domestic and international full and part-time students each year, the Metro Group offers a range of vocational and applied educational and training opportunities from certificate to doctorate level.

Kai Tahu

In 2004 Kai Tahu and Otago Polytechnic signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The principal objectives were to support and contribute to the achievement of Maori development aspirations, and work together to identify specific educational needs of Kai Tahu. The MoU is still in effect today.

Open Education Resource Foundation

The Open Education Resource Foundation (OER) is an independent, not-for-profit organisation that provides leadership, international networking and support for educators and educational institutions to achieve their objectives through Open Education. Otago Polytechnic is an institutional member, shareholder and Otago Polytechnic Deputy Chief Executive, Robin Day, is the Chair of the OER board in New Zealand.

The Tertiary Accord of New Zealand (TANZ)

The Tertiary Accord of New Zealand (TANZ) is a network of ITPs, including Otago Polytechnic. The vision of TANZ is to be the leader in collaborative applied vocational education and training.  The mission / purpose of TANZ is to work collaboratively as an Accord  to identify, design, develop, deliver and evaluate applied vocational quality products for tertiary learners.

The Permanent External Advisory Committee

The Permanent External Advisory Committee (PEAC) is made up of external stakeholders, plus members of Otago Polytechnic staff and Council. The main role of this committee is to represent the wider relevant community in providing assurance on the quality, relevance, scope and currency of our courses, and advising the institution accordingly.
