I go smokefree, you go hair free

Otago Polytechnic health and safety advisor Terry Buckingham and students’ association president Meegan Cloughley

Otago Polytechnic health and safety advisor Terry Buckingham and students’ association president Meegan Cloughley have done a deal.

Terry agreed to shave his head to support CanTeen at a hair-shaving extravaganza hosted by OPSA on Wednesday.

But there was a catch.

Meegan (who also had her head shaved) has agreed to try and quit smoking.

CanTeen supports young people living with cancer, and Terry says he was delighted to be part of their awareness and fundraising efforts.

“It’s even better that I have been able to exact a commitment from Meegan in the process. Thank you to CanTeen for providing this opportunity!”

Otago Polytechnic recently announced it would become a completely smokefree organisation, across all its campuses, indoors and outdoors, from 31 May, World Smokefree Day.
