Otago Polytechnic’s design dazzlers are paving the way with some major achievements.
As well as being interiors, product, fashion or communication designers, our students use their creativity to look outside the box….

The Honolulu Film Awards recognizes outstanding achievement in filmmaking from around the world and as a final year project Communications Design graduate Joe Gallagher was encouraged to submit his television pilot.
Stemming from Joe’s love for the slopes, the episode was based on learning the basics of free skiing from top end instructors.
The result was a 2010 Silver Lei Award and a promising career in filmmaking.
Joe now works as a freelance video producer and camera assistant at Otago Polytechnic.

With a grand history of artistic achievements it’s no wonder Design graduate (Interiors) Anna Begg pursued a career in the floating city of Venice.
The 2009 graduate spends her time designing footwear and snowboard graphics.
The 2010 Novadown Fashioned Feathered Wearable Arts Show saw Design student Fiona Clements win the prize for Creative Flair with her vibrant piece, Te Anivaniwa Manu.
Nationwide designers showcased their creations on the catwalk at the Otago Museum venue with garments from the Designer Collection being auctioned during the evening and proceeds going to the Asthma Foundation.
Fiona is in her second year of a Bachelor of Design (Fashion) and applying to go on an exchange to Milan later this year to study.
