When Otago Polytechnic is hiring a Midwifery lecturer we require:

  • NZ Registered midwife
  • At least 3 years post-registration midwifery practice experience
  • A relevant post-graduate qualification or must enrol in a masters degree within two years of appointment
  • Hold teaching qualification, or complete within two years of appointment
  • Complete a Treaty of Waitangi course and Cultural Safety and Turanga Kaupapa within one year of appointment
  • If teaching and assessing students in clinical practice, must hold an Annual Practice Certificate

Annual Leave

Prof Development Financial Assistance

DHB: Case-by-case basis $700 for 1 FTE per annum (minimum)

NB: Self-employed midwives (about half of New Zealand Midwives are self-employed) do receive salaries between $80,000 - $150,000 but they do not receive any benefits listed above

*Discretionary leave is four weeks leave per annum that is used at the Academic staff member's discretion.
